Why I show you the website before you pay

Jonas L. VaitkusUpdated 18 October 2026

Most web agencies want payment before they show you anything. I do the opposite: I build the front page first, you see it in your browser, and you pay nothing until you have decided.

How a free preview works

You don’t give any payment details to get the preview.

Why most agencies do the opposite

The usual way is that the agency wants a deposit before the work starts. You pay, wait a few weeks, and only then see what you bought. By then the money is spent and it is hard to turn back. That isn’t necessarily dishonest, but the risk sits with you.

What it means for quality

When I haven’t been paid, the first version has to be good enough that you want to use it. I can’t hide behind a deposit, and it doesn’t help to hand over a template with a new name on it. So I start by understanding your business, not by opening a ready-made layout.

What the preview is and isn’t

It is a real front page with design and text, built in the browser, not a sketch or a picture. I build the rest of the pages after you have approved the direction. You can click around, read the text out loud and show it to someone else before you decide.

What you pay if you like it

It costs NOK 0 when we start. Then come two invoices, half each: 50% once you have approved the design, and 50% before the website goes live. Prices start at NOK 9,900 excl. VAT for Start, NOK 15,900 for Growth and NOK 29,900 for Signature. Once the website is paid, you own it, with full right of use.

The downside, honestly

Every preview costs me working hours with no guarantee of payment. That is why I ask you to tell me properly about the business first, and why it can take a few days before I get started if I am busy. In return you know what you are getting before you decide.

Questions about the preview

Does the preview cost anything?

No. It is free, and you don’t commit to anything by asking for it.

What if I don’t like it?

Then you tell me and you pay nothing. You can also ask for changes before you decide.

Do I have to give card details?

No. You only give contact details and a little about your business.

Who owns the website?

You do. As soon as the website is paid, it is yours, with full right of use.
